FYI I am a loyal Auchan customer, love their products and actually prefer their store brand to many national brands. I decided to try their paint.... I do not recommend it simply because it is not monocouche!! I love the color but honestly having to put a second coat made it not worth it...

Hi! Just stumbled upon your blog, and must say I get your penchant for Auchan. I just visited one of their hypermarches recently and I felt like I was worshipping in a church of groceries and French deliciousness. The cheese aisle?! Mon dieu!
Also a loyal customer of Auchan, but when it comes to DIY and paint i'm Casto all the way. The colours brand is kind of pricy except when compared to national brands, and even as a monocouche, it gives a really rich result. Sounds like your place is really coming along nicely! It's been fun to hear about your projects in a new house compared to my experiences in a renovation.

Amber - thank you for the tip!!!! the closest Casto is in Caen but from time to time we do go there and it is SO good to know that you recommend a paint brand!! It's so hard to tell (without buying the super duper expensive ones) which ones will be nice - and monocouche! :) I really appreciate the advice! I'll post more pictures once I've done all the final detail work
