My family has been selling Christmas trees for over 30 years so I'm an expert by default!Leahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14698816373406087611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15730222.post-91621269539277386902011-12-15T22:15:19.449+01:002011-12-15T22:15:19.449+01:00What? I'm no botanist, but, in my experience, if you put a branch of freshly cut rosemary in a glass of water vs. no water, it dries out a lot faster with no water. Therefore my conclusion is that she didn't know what the heck she was talking about! :)Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18245742506531002363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15730222.post-26936674767193949072011-12-13T12:15:56.972+01:002011-12-13T12:15:56.972+01:00Yeah, sorry, that lady was an idiot. My uncle was just telling me last month that one year he had a tree that drank up 2 quarts of water the first night and that thing was still green in February out on the wood pile!Vivihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01430365550674784871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15730222.post-1608291830507755622011-12-12T22:16:56.472+01:002011-12-12T22:16:56.472+01:00I rarely had real trees growing up so I didn't...I rarely had real trees growing up so I didn't know anything about this! Our real tree is sitting nailed to a stump, no water in sight. To get the tree to drink, cut the end and put it immediately into water.

Here's a link from the Oklahoma Christmas Tree Assoc.
http://www.okchristmastrees.com/tree%20care.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15730222.post-13295581430949501382011-12-12T21:35:53.175+01:002011-12-12T21:35:53.175+01:00I think the most important is to make a fresh cut ...I think the most important is to make a fresh cut on the bottom to enable it to drink up more water.

We got ours at IKEA and it seems exceptionally fresh. It's in my water stand that I brought back from the states a few years back and is definitely drinking water (unless the dog is drinking it in secret).Mrs Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07132656110732966115noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15730222.post-9167960390614869542011-12-12T21:06:41.748+01:002011-12-12T21:06:41.748+01:00Surely it's the same as for flowers?
